Distances from important cities / towns

The nearest airport is Jorhat. Flights from Calcutta, 2 1/2 hrs. drive thereafter.
But the Guwahati airport has more flights from Calcutta, Delhi and Mumbai, 5 1/2 hrs. drive thereafter.
The nearest rail head is Fukating about 75 kms from the park. Regular air conditioned trains to Guwahati from Calcatta & Delhi.

Climate
The climate of Kaziranga park is tropical. Summers are hot and winters cold. Take cotton clothes for summers and do not forget to pack woollens during winters. The average rainfall is 160 cms. But the monsoon months bring heavy downpours which often flood the park.

Best Time to Visit
The best season to visit this park is between November and April. Rest of the year it is off season for the national park. Avoid the monsoon as many parts of the park is flooded and animals are not easy to spot.
